The Dresden Dolls似乎对德国有着极为浓厚的兴趣。比如乐队名字，Dresden就是曾经东德的一个城市，在二战中被炸毁。再比如他们的音乐中经常会出现German cabaret元素——这是一种早在上世纪20、30年代当德国还处在魏玛共和国势力控制之下时期盛行的一种歌舞表演形式,Beats By Dre Sale。尽管The Dresden Dolls的歌词和演唱都是以英语表现出来的，但他们身上有着已经被记号化的“德国特质”，不仅仅是因为他们的音乐中略显刻板且神经质的华丽风格，还体现在这二人的身体表现上。当他们在很早以前开始以The Dresden Dolls的形式上台表演时，衣着和妆容便尽显半歌特半魏玛时期歌舞剧风格，相当惊艳。这就是The Dresden Dolls：他们的音乐模糊了传统的界限，而他们的造型则融合跨越了不同国籍与时代。

他们的音乐有时很吵有时很纠人心弦，Amanda的声音不同于其他女主唱的路线：不甜美不轻柔不沙哑不娇媚不可爱不自然不干不净，她唱得很用力很大声很强壮很扎实很厚重很“不要脸”。这对走歌舞派路线的队伍光用听的绝对不够,UGG UK，你该看看她们现场表演的功力或者MV中夸张逗人的表情：一向面无表情的Brian打鼓时投入地挤眉弄眼加甩头；Amanda则像是被人控制着的傀儡娃娃弹跳着演奏钢琴，他们很神经质地表演着叫人看得目不转睛却又不忍逼视的夸张戏码。
